John joined Plave Koch as an associate in 2016 after graduating from law school. He focuses his practice on counseling clients on franchising, licensing, and distribution issues, as well as general corporate and commercial transactions. He has experience representing start-up, emerging, and mature franchise companies in a variety of domestic and international development matters. He regularly prepares and negotiates franchise agreements, licensing agreements, franchise disclosure documents, and other commercial and regulatory documents. John also assists with mergers and acquisitions of franchise companies and provides guidance to franchise systems on developing digital policies and guidelines.
While at Emory University School of Law, John served as the Executive Administrative Editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal (Vol. 32). In addition to graduating with honors, John received the Transactional Law and Skills Certificate from the Center for Transactional Law and Practice at Emory Law. He also externed in the legal departments of two Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Atlanta, GA.
Before attending law school, John was the Global Procurement Manager at large research and advisory firm in Arlington, VA.
